You’ve met with your team and you all agree: you need monday.com. Immediately. You’re looking for a central tool that stores all of your project work in one place. You need an automated solution that easily integrates with your existing software. You’re currently lacking technology that brings your team together and encourages collaboration. Whatever your reason(s) may be, when you’ve made the decision that you want to move forward with a new tool, there is still a lot you should think through before any technology starts solving your problems for you.

Think of this as an opportunity to hit the reset button - what hasn’t worked for your team in the past? Are there new roles/resources to consider in your day-to-day operations? Do you need to relabel the way you categorize projects? Do you need to reassign responsibilities? These may seem like simple questions that have a lot of depth. Have these discussions with your team and talk through your new normal moving forward. Figuring out these answers will help you set expectations not only within your team, but how you organize things in monday.com.

There are many different kinds of boards and workflows that are possible within the monday.com landscape and the way you structure your projects may change from project to project. However, it’s good to be aligned with your team so you’re all on the same page before multiple people actively start using monday.com. Who needs what access? Who is the monday.com super user in case issues arise? The more planning and prep work you do prior to implementation, the more your team will be positioned for success.

This doesn’t mean you can’t move forward with getting monday.com until you have all of these questions answered. You can absolutely commit to the tool, familiarize yourself with it as a team, and even have working sessions where you pull it up and look at it together to figure out some of these important decisions on how you will use it everyday.

Long story short - we would not recommend getting monday.com, giving your whole team access, and saying “good luck!” One of the best parts about monday.com is the chance to collaborate. Leverage this opportunity in your planning stages. It will be worth it!
